Core Aeration

Core aeration is a type of lawn aeration whereby a machine (a lawn aerator) with hollow tines mechanically removes plugs or “cores” of soil and thatch from a lawn. Core aeration reduces soil compaction, creating a channel through which oxygen, water, and nutrients can penetrate into the soil.

How Does Aeration Help?

Picture the soil under grass that is performing poorly. Instead of being fluffy enough for oxygen, water and nutrients to flow through it (down to the grass roots), it is compacted. It may also be crowned with a thick layer of thatch, rendering it even more impervious.

Your lawn is crying out for core aeration!

How We Perform Our Services

Core Aeration on your lawn is a process that removes a core part of the soil to allow breathability and root growth. This process helps dispense nutrients through your soil in addition to providing premium root health. Most lawns need to be core aerated at least once per year. Here at Green Grass Guys, we like to provide the aeration process at the same time as the overseeding process for premium results. Having healthy soil is one of the greatest necessities to give a lawn the ability to flourish. Soil is the door to success for your yard and core aeration is the key.

Do I Need Aeration?

  • If your lawn gets heavy usage
  • Your home was recently built
  • If your lawn dries out easily
  • Spongy feeling
  • Small thatch layer
  • Established by sod
